Installing Ollama and Downloading Large Models

First, go to Ollama’s official website and download the installation package.
Open the installation package and install it.
Go to the model page on Ollama’s website, find the model you need, and click the button to copy the command.
Open the terminal. Hold the Command key and press the Space key, type “terminal” in the search bar, and the terminal will appear.
Paste the command you copied in Step 3 into the terminal and press Enter to start downloading the corresponding model.

Currently, downloading Llama 3.1 and Nomic-embed-text models is usually enough.

Installing Obsidian

Go to Obsidian’s official website and download the installation package.
Open the installation package and install it.
Open Obsidian and click the settings button.
Click on “Community Plugins.”
Search for “Text Generator” and click Install.
Search for “Copilot” and click Install.
Finally, after installing the plugins, check to see if the toggle switch is on. Ensure it is turned on for the plugins to be activated.

With that, we have completed the installation of both software programs.
